Alumni Returning To Celebrate Lanzhou University's 110th Birthday
September 17 is Lanzhou University's 110th birthday. 151 alumni of the class of 1960, 1964, 1973, 1976 and 1981 returned during September 14 to 16, to celebrate and enjoy a trip down memory lane.
Four schoolmates played friendly football game hosted by the university on September 14, which reminded them of their passionate old days. All Alumni attended the gathering to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the founding of Lanzhou University on September 17.
Some distinguished schoolmates were invited to the hospital, such as Mr. Wang Longde, medical major of the class of 1964, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chairman of Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, President of school of public health, Peking University, Ms. Ke Hong, medical major of the class of 1964, former Discipline Inspection Secretary of China-Japan Friendship Hospital, and Mr. Liu Rong, medical major of the class of 1981, Director of the hepatobiliary surgery department 2 of Chinese PLA General Hospital (301 hospital), Director of the Institute of Hepatobiliary Surgery, PLA. Mr. Yang Jianwen, Party Secretary of the hospital, and President Wang Chen warmly welcomed the alumni and showed them around the Imperial Examination Museum and the Hospital History Museum. In the evening, they went to Yuzhong campus to watch the gala.
Many of the alumni are over 80-year-old, and their "not afraid to travel long distance, but to see the Alma mater" is moving. An 85-year-old alumnus said excitedly that it’s been 18 years since he returned last time. The 110 anniversary was a rare opportunity to go back to his Alma mater. No matter how hard it was, he returned. There were also three alumni who came back from abroad. They said that wherever they went, they often recalled the time when they were in their Alma mater.
According to statistics, more than 400 alumni of our hospital have returned to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the founding of Lanzhou University, and more than 100 students of The Second Clinical Medical School have participated in the reception work of alumni as volunteers.
