First Case of Air Rescue by Lanzhou University Second Hospital
In the morning of April 4th, an orange helicopter with an emergent patient from Gangu county was flying toward our hospital. It’s the first case of air rescue by Lanzhou University Second Hospital allying Gansu Kingwing co. LTD. Mr. Wang Chen, president of the hospital, Mr. Mi Quanhui, CEO of Gansu Kingwing, and medical staff of the hospital and Gansu Provincial Emergency Medical Rescue Center attended the recue.
The rescued patient, 62-year-old, with cor pulmonale, called Kingwing to help him transfer when he’s getting worse in local hospital. Upon being informed, the LZUSH attached great importance to the air rescue mission, and immediately coordinated with the hospital office, medical affairs department, security department, and emergency center to open a green channel. After nearly an hour's flight, as soon as the helicopter landing in the front of the hospital administration building, medical staff immediately took over and sent to ICU where the patient was assisted with noninvasive ventilator and received some relevant examinations such as heart and lungs ultrasound for further treatment.
Mr. Wang Chen said 20 medical staff received air rescue training in the end of 2018 and got qualification. The hospital The hospital is building the rooftop helicopter platform to advance air rescue work across the province. In the next step, our hospital will further promote the helicopter rescue work, so as to open a green channel for the transfer and treatment of critically ill patients in Gansu.
