Nursing Team of LZUSH Attended 2019 ICN Congress and BPSO in Singapore

The 2019 congress of international council of nurses (ICN) was successfully held in Singapore from June 27 to July 1. Ms. Halimah Yacob, President of Singapore, attended the conference and delivered the speech. Annette Kennedy, President of the International Nurses Association, Howard Catton, CEO of the International Nurses Association, Lin Ruixia, President of the Singapore Nurses Association, and more than 5,000 experts, scholars and nursing colleagues from 140 countries and regions got together in Singapore . Li Yanjun, deputy director of nursing department of our hospital, Yin Xiaoli, head nurse of orthopedics department and Wang Haixia, nurse of cardiology department, were invited to attend the meeting.

 

ICN, as a coalition of more than 130 national nurse associations (NNAs) representing more than 20 million nurses worldwide, is committed to providing quality care and global health policies for all. With the theme of "Beyond Healthcare To Health", the conference spread nursing and health-related knowledge through multi forms including presentations, branch discussions and wall poster, and shared the efforts and experience of nursing workers around the world. Attendance explored in depth the many ways in which nurses work and achieve health for all, social determinants related to health, such as education, gender equality, poverty, and ideas that influence health, social and economic policies at the national, regional and global levels by sharing best practices.

During the meeting, the paper that shared the latest research results and practical experience of pain management based on the best practice guidelines of our hospital evidence-based nursing team was exhibited in the form of wall poster.

On July 2, the nursing team of our hospital attended the BPSO special meeting sponsored by the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) and gave the keynote report. Delegations from Canada, China, the United States, Spain and other best practices organizations attended the conference. The meeting focused on key elements of RNAO's strict clinical best practice guidelines (BPG) development methodology, and introduced strategies to support the knowledge transformation of RNAO’s BPG through the BPSO program in worldwide. During the meeting, Wang Haixia, the nurse of cardiology department, extended the report on the progress of BPSO, and also introduced the situation of Evidence-Based Nursing Committee Gansu Province and our hospital. In addition, BPSO discussed the clinical application of best practice guidelines and provided answers to relevant questions through round-table discussions, group discussions and other forms, pointing out the direction for the advancement of evidence-based nursing in the future.

This meeting and exchange will promote the internationalization of the hospital's nursing work, and boost the clinical application of the three best practice guidelines in our hospital, which will improve the nursing quality and patients’ life quality.
