Lan Zhou University Second Hospital successfully performed i-Track catheter 360 degree angle incision on the youngest child with congenital glaucoma in China

On June 11, LYU Peng, director of the Ophthalmology Department from Lan Zhou University Second Hospital, successfully performed i-Track catheter 360 degree angle incision on a 36-day child. The successful implementation of this case shows a new progress in the field of congenital glaucoma treatment. Three weeks after the operation, our hospital review showed that the size of the small child’s left eye had basically returned to normal and the vision recovered well.

The child was born in Wu Wei City on June 1 this year. Her left eye has congenital glaucoma. The weight of the patient was only 2,930 grams. The neonatology and ophthalmology pay high attention to it. After investigation of the literature, there is no precedent for this case in China before. However, the eye pressure of the left eye is very high, and the diameter of the eyeball is significantly increased by 6 mm. If the operation is not timely, the child's left eye may be permanently blind, and the eyeball may ruptures and loses the eyeball. Our hospital made a detailed and careful surgical plan, and the final operation was successfully completed.

It is reported that in our hospital, we first developed a congenital glaucoma i-Track catheter 360 degree angle incision from 2016, and now successfully cured nearly 100 children with congenital glaucoma. In the future, our hospital ophthalmology will continue to work hard to bring light to patients with the most advanced and accurate technology.
