The current address of LZUSH-Cuiyingmen is a cradle formodern education, industry, agriculture, medicine and health care. Many famouscolleges, school and hospitals inLanzhouderived from here. At the same time, there is no doubt that Zhigong Hall is themost splendid heritage in our hospital.
In 1875, in the first year of Guangxu, emperor of Qing Dynasty, Mr. Zuo Zongtang, the Shaanxi-Gansu Governor, built the Zhigong Hall by imperial decree. It was known as Gansu Imperial Examination Institute.
In 1909, Gansu Special School for Politics and Law was founded. This school, which became Lanzhou University, was moved to the former site of Gansu Imperial Examination Institute in 1913. It disappeared from the stage of history with the abolishment of imperial examination system. The deserted appearance of Imperial Examination Institute is former Lanzhou University. Nowaday, Zhigong Hall diplays varieties of precious historical heritage, such as: woody poetic couplet on pillars, delicated paintings, rare old photos, masters’ calligraphies, unique artistic works, memorable medical appliances, and so on.
In 1928, GansuSpecialSchool for Politics and Law changed its name to LanzhouZhongshanUniversity. LanzhouZhongshanHospital was founded in the same year.
In 1932, GansuCollege prepared to establish a Medical Specialty Department, with this LanzhouMedicalCollege was founded. At the same time, LanzhouZhongshanHospital was taken as a teaching hospital for the college.
In 1948, NationalLanzhouUniversity was founded, and LanzhouZhongshanHospital changed its name to Affiliated Hospital of National Lanzhou University.
In 1954, a nation wide rearrangement was launched among colleges and departments. At this time the Medical Special Training Department was changed to Lanzhou Medical College, and LanzhouZhongshanHospital was renamed the Affiliated Hospital of Lanzhou Medical College.
In 1959, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Lanzhou Medical College was founded byLanzhou MedicalCollege at CuiyingMen.
In 2004, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Lanzhou Medical College returned to LanzhouUniversity along with LanzhouMedicalCollege, and changed its name to the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University.
